Direct TV Deals Compared to Cable

I’ve been itching to get rid of Comcast digital cable for a long time. The problem is they give you a great combo with their bundles that include voice, internet, and cable television service. When customers need to disconnect one, you miss out on the savings of the package.

But the cable TV setup just needs to go, as the channel selection and quality is below average. There is so much discussion today about high definition, there just wasn’t much of that with Charter cable TV. So I began researching who else was available in my neck of the woods.

I happen to be one of the people who have been given a few choices. Unlike most folks who can only select from either the cable company or Direct TV satellite TV, I have a third choice in my area. The old telephone company in this neighborhood has been altering the telephone network. So I have an additional consideration with Verizon and their fiber optic service.

That doesn’t of course mean I won’t have the same problems. It would put me in the same boat as with the cable TV company, as the telephone company want customers to package their TV setup with internet and voice service. If the deal works out well, customers will be pleased. But if its not you’re in the same circumstance that we all hate, being stuck with cable TV that isn’t all that great.

Most evaluations I found are pretty good on telecom television service. Of course it is new, there is sometimes a risk with a new technology like this, and some customers share their poor reviews. Some of those reviews are the quite amusing, simply for the reason people make the decision to write a bad review on their poor experience and share it on the web. They badmouth the company like it is some huge conspiracy to screw the customer, like the company does not want to make money!

Another way to go that I’m looking into is of course satellite television. Because we have six television viewers in our house, we usually buy a high end TV package. The satellite TV choices seem to be fairly even, as the DirecTV Premier and the DISH Network America’s everything package are each about $100 per month. Yes that’s pretty pricey for pay TV, but if you make the comparison with taking your family to supper and a trip to the movies, it really isn’t all that much.  Some in my family speak Spanish, so the DIRECTV Mas bundle looks like a winner.  The great thing is that there are lots of DirecTV pros and cons to help me decide which direction to take.
